Dutch Apple Pie

Ingredients:

   Streusel Topping:
1.) 1/2 cup of butter, softened
      2.) 1 cup of flour
3.) 2/3 cup of packed brown sugar
      4.) 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

   Filling:
1.) 1 can of apple pie filling (if you like to cheat a little)
2.) 4 medium sized apples, peeled and sliced
3.) 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
     4.) 3 teaspoons of cinnamon
     5.) 1 teaspoon of nutmeg

   Crust:
1.) Can of cooled, pie crust

Directions:

1.) Combine streusel toppings in a small bowl. Use your hands or a small wooden spatula to mix together. Make sure the butter is actually softened, a little warmer than room temperature but not melted. This makes the ingredients mix together better. Mix until streusel crumbles form. It might take a while for them to form together, so be patient.
2.) Follow the directions on the package for your pie crust if it is frozen or refrigerated. Once at room temperature, roll it out ontop of the pie pan you are using. Use slow, careful movements so the dough doesn't break. Set aside.
3.) Preheat oven to 400º.
4.) Peel and cut the apples. Discard the core and peels. Put the can of filling in another bowl, and mix your apples in. I like to use the filling in addition to my own apples, because the filling has the saucy filling with the apples, which can be messed up easily. Put the additional cut apples make it fresh and crisp.
5.) Add in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in with the apples. Mix well, and spread evenly over the pie crust.
6.) Top the pie with the streusel crumbles, and put in the oven. Bake for 45-55 minutes.

Enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream :)
